Senior Spotlight: Volleyball’s Megan Coslove

Megan Coslove

We have a Senior Spotlight for you this Tuesday and it features girl’s volleyball player Megan Coslove, who will be attending Rowan University in the fall and is undecided on a major.

Most memorable moment from CHS athletic career? There is an annual volleyball tournament hosted by Moorestown High School called the Burlington County Open Volleyball Tournament. Every town in Burlington County is invited to play, which included RV, Lenape, Cherokee, Seneca, etc.. And at the tournament I was playing libero (which is the player who wears the different colored jersey and plays strictly backrow) and this was the first year in all 4 years of volleyball that I’ve played this position and I was given the award of “best libero” at the tournament.

Favorite movie? The Lion King or any Disney movie.

Favorite class at CHS? AP Stat with Mr. Mike Perekupka. He really enjoyed math and stat and you could tell by the way he taught. He is very friendly and energetic and excited to teach.

Favorite song? Hallelujah by Panic! At the Disco

What are you most looking forward to about college? I don’t know what I want my career to be yet which is why I’m undecided. I’m excited to figure out what career path I want to take and my major.

What will you miss most about CHS? I will miss the staff most at CHS. I had the most amazing teachers throughout high school. I couldn’t pick a favorite teacher because they are all so unique in how they are and how they teach but they’re all great people and great at their careers.

Who has been your biggest supporter during your athletic career at CHS? My biggest supporter would have to be my Dad. Both my parents have been beyond supportive in volleyball with coming to my games to cheer me on, paying for my club team, and driving me there. But before I had my licence, my dad would make sure not to have work on the nights I would have practice so I could be there. He would swing by games when he could while he was working and really enjoys watching me play.

Aside from volleyball, have you played any other sports at CHS? I played softball my sophomore year and I really did enjoy playing. I had such a fun time with my teammates and coach but I decided to play club volleyball the following year and I didn’t have time to commit to both.

What got you interested in volleyball? I actually didn’t have the slightest clue how to play volleyball when I first signed up. My friend asked me to join the team with her but she ended up dropping out but I stayed anyway. I fell in love with the sport and I’m grateful my friend got me to try out.

Will you be playing volleyball, or any other sport, in college? I will be not be playing for Rowan but hopefully try out for their club team.

What do you like to do in your free time? In between work and volleyball I try to catch up on sleep. I also will binge-watch TV shows on Netflix but I love going out with friends whenever I have the time.

Do you have a favorite Jersey Shore spot? If so, which one and why? I don’t go down to the shore as much as everyone else but my friend has a house at the very end of LBI and it’s very isolated. People bring their dogs on the beach and it’s more free to do what you want down there. Its quiet and it isn’t busy like most roads on the shore.

What part of your game improved the most during your time on varsity? My mental game improved a lot. I used to get so mad at myself for messing up, especially if it was constant mistake after mistake. My first year being captain, I wasn’t good at helping others to get better because I was always down on myself. My senior year I definitely made a mental improvement and would not get frustrated so easily and helped the younger players out.
