Pirates Daily Recap: Wrestling Splits at Tri; Swimming & Track Post Strong Days


The wrestling team split at a tri-match today, boy’s basketball lost at the Jeff Coney Classic and the track and swimming program posted strong days.

Wrestling 40, Pennsauken 25

Wrestling 44, Haddonfield 9

The Pirates took part in a tri-match with Pennsauken and Haddonfield on Saturday, going 1-1.

The win in the opening match against Pennsauken moved the Pirates record to 11-4.

The loss to Haddonfield dropped their record to 11-5.

Cinnaminson got major decision wins from Jarrod Averill and Joe Saxton and a Technical Fall from Liam Wharton in the win over Pennsauken.

In the match against Haddonfield Ryan Teague (15-0) and Shaun Davilla (13-4) picked up major decisions.

Wrestling looks to win the Patriot Division Wednesday, February 1 when Delran comes to town at 6pm.

Boy’s Basketball 55, Washington Township 61

The boy’s basketball team dropped a 61-55 game to Washington Township Saturday at the Annual Jeff Coney Classic hosted by Rancocas Valley.

The Pirates are now 8-10 on the season.

Craig Turned had a game-high 26, while John Meekins poured in 15.

Boy’s basketball returns to the court on Tuesday, January 31 with a home division game against Willingboro.

Swimming at SJISA

The Pirates swim team competed at the SJISA on Saturday morning, finishing 8th out of 34 teams.

The girl’s medley relay team finished 4th in the seeded heat.

The Pirates return to the pool Tuesday night to take on rival Delran at RCBC at 6:50pm.

Winter Track at Franklin & Marshall Invitational

The winter track team sent a group of athletes to the Franklin & Marshall Invitational today in Pennsylvania.

Prisca Blamon finished third in the shot put with a throw of 34’10”.

Kamron Kobolak finished second in the shot put with a throw of 49’2″. Mateus Medeiros finished fifth and Frankie Stepnowski finished sixth.

Winter Track travels to the Bennett Center in Toms River Monday for another SJTCA meet.
