Pirates Daily Recap: Boy’s and Girl’s Basketball Victorious

The boy’s and girl’s basketball teams were victorious on Thursday night against Holy Cross and Pennsauken, respectively. Here is our recap.

Boy’s Basketball 66, Holy Cross 48

The boy’s basketball team took down Holy Cross in Delran tonight 66-48 to move to 8-9 overall.

Craig Turner poured in a game-high 22 points as four Pirates scored in double figures.

Gunner Peterson dropped 13, JP Rickus had 11 and Justin Dever finished with 10.

Cinnaminson rode an 18-5 first quarter en route to the 18-point victory.

Girl’s Basketball 52, Pennsauken 35

Girl’s basketball hosted Pennsauken Thursday night and came away with a 17-point win, 52-35, to move to 12-4 on the year.

Fiona Flynn led all scorers with 17 points, nine of them coming from the free throw line.

Maddie Parrish followed with 15 and Maddie Ogden had nine as eight different players scored at least one point.

The Pirates trailed 20-11 after the first, but used a 12-2 second quarter to take a 23-22 lead into the break.

Down five entering the fourth, the Pirates outscored the Indians 22-0 to take home the 52-35 win.

He coached baseball for five years, three at his former high school (Holy Cross in Delran, NJ) and two at prominent Division III program Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. He has worked for the Courier-Post in Cherry Hill, NJ; Metro Networks in Bala Cynwyd, PA; and was the play-by-play announcer for the Camden Riversharks of the Independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball for two seasons (2007-2008) on Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM, the student-run radio station at Rowan University. Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and minor in Journalism from Rowan University in 2008. While in school he was the Assistant Sports Director at WGLS for two years and the Sports Director for one year. He also covered the football, baseball, softball and both basketball teams for the school newspaper 'The Whit.' He is the former Sports Editor for the Cinnaminson and Moorestown Patch websites.
