Pirates Daily Recap: Basketball Swept by Delran; Swimming Competes at BCSL

The Pirates basketball teams were swept by Delran Friday night as the swim team competed at the annual BCSL Championships at RCBC.

Boy’s Basketball 54, Delran 66

The boy’s basketball team dropped a 66-54 Patriot contest to Delran at home Friday night.

Cinnaminson is now 8-13 overall and 3-7 in the division.

Craig Turner led the Pirates with 18 points as John Meekins pitched in 12. Justin Dever added 9.

Boy’s basketball visits Moorestown on Tuesday, February 6 at 5:30pm.

The cutoff for the state playoffs is tomorrow. Final power points should be released Sunday.

Girl’s Basketball 28, Delran 40

The girl’s basketball team fell to Delran 40-28 in a Patriot Division road contest tonight.

Girl’s basketball drops to 14-6 overall and 4-3 in the division.

The Bears led 9-0 after the first quarter and never looked back, holding a 20-11 advantage at the half.

The cutoff for the state playoffs is tomorrow. Final power points should be released Sunday, possibly Monday.

Cinnaminson hosts Moorestown on Tuesday, February 3 at 5:30pm.

Swimming at BCSL

The swim team competed at the BCSL championships Friday night.

Lily Black took home first in the 50 free with a time of 25.40.

Swimming will host either Delran or Steinert at RCBC on Thursday, February 9 at 5:30pm in the Central, Group B quarterfinals.

He coached baseball for five years, three at his former high school (Holy Cross in Delran, NJ) and two at prominent Division III program Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. He has worked for the Courier-Post in Cherry Hill, NJ; Metro Networks in Bala Cynwyd, PA; and was the play-by-play announcer for the Camden Riversharks of the Independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball for two seasons (2007-2008) on Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM, the student-run radio station at Rowan University. Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and minor in Journalism from Rowan University in 2008. While in school he was the Assistant Sports Director at WGLS for two years and the Sports Director for one year. He also covered the football, baseball, softball and both basketball teams for the school newspaper 'The Whit.' He is the former Sports Editor for the Cinnaminson and Moorestown Patch websites.
