Pirates Daily Recap: Basketball Splits with Moorestown; Track at Cherokee Throwdown

The Pirates basketball teams split with Moorestown Tuesday night as the winter track team competed at the Cherokee Throwdown.

Girl’s Basketball 34, Moorestown 29

The girl’s basketball team took down visiting Moorestown 34-29 on Tuesday night.

The Pirates are now 15-6 on the year.

Cinnaminson used a 14-9 first quarter to set the pace. The Pirates and Quakers played to a tie in the ensuing three quarters of the game.

Fiona Flynn led the Pirates with 12 points and Maddie Ogden added 11.

Anne O’Malley contributed six in the victory.

Cinnaminson visits Eastern on Sunday at 10am for an SJ Invitational game.

Boy’s Basketball 50, Moorestown 63

The boy’s basketball team fell to Moorestown 63-50 Tuesday night on the road.

The Pirates are now 8-14 on the season.

Craig Turner led the Pirates with 15 points, 12 from three-point range.

Conor Bresnahan followed with 14 points in the loss.

Cinnaminson hosts Palmyra on Thursday at 5:15pm.

Winter Track at Cherokee Throwdown

The winter track team competed at the Cherokee Throwdown on Tuesday night at Cherokee High School in Marlton.

Kamron Kobolak won the competition with a throw of 52’4.75″, which is good for first in South, Group 2.

The Pirates had a second thrower break 50″ on the night as Mateus Medeiros finished at 50’0.75″ for a personal record.

He coached baseball for five years, three at his former high school (Holy Cross in Delran, NJ) and two at prominent Division III program Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. While in school he was the Assistant Sports Director at WGLS for two years and the Sports Director for one year. He also covered the football, baseball, softball and both basketball teams for the school newspaper 'The Whit.' He is the former Sports Editor for the Cinnaminson and Moorestown Patch websites.
