Pirates Athletes of the Week: January 1


The Pirates Athletes of the Week for January 1 are here. Find out who takes home the honors this week at Cinnaminson High School.

We bring you the Athletes of the Week one day early due to the New Year holiday tomorrow.

Boy’s Basketball: The Pirates went 1-1 at the Collingswood Holiday Tournament this week to move to 4-2 on the season. Cinnaminson took down Salem 68-41 and fell to New Foundations (PA) in the title game 62-59. The boy’s basketball athlete of the week is Conor Bresnahan. Bresnahan scored 24 and 26 in the two games.

Girl’s Basketball: The Pirates went 2-0 this week to move to 5-1 overall. Girl’s basketball took part in the Audubon Holiday Tournament, winning the title. Cinnaminson knocked off Gloucester 52-31 and then Holy Cross 52-44. The girl’s basketball athlete of the week is Fiona Flynn. Flynn scored 15 and 29 in the two games to be named tourney MVP.

Wrestling: Wrestling went 0-2 this week to fall to 1-2 on the season. The team also competed at the Arthur Marinelli Tournament, coming in third. The Pirates two losses came to Kingsway 40-30 and Paulsboro 56-10. The wrestling athlete of the week goes to Keith Swartley. Swartley won the heavyweight title at the Marinelli tourney. He also picked up a forfeit victory and a pin at the tri-match Friday.

Jim is the creator and editor of Cinn City Sports. He also created At the Dish, Life With Tony and Enzo and is the owner of JAVFreelancing. He coached baseball for five years, three at his former high school (Holy Cross in Delran, NJ) and two at prominent Division III program Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. He has worked for the Courier-Post in Cherry Hill, NJ; Metro Networks in Bala Cynwyd, PA; and was the play-by-play announcer for the Camden Riversharks of the Independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball for two seasons (2007-2008) on Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM, the student-run radio station at Rowan University. Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and minor in Journalism from Rowan University in 2008. While in school he was the Assistant Sports Director at WGLS for two years and the Sports Director for one year. He also covered the football, baseball, softball and both basketball teams for the school newspaper 'The Whit.' He is the former Sports Editor for the Cinnaminson and Moorestown Patch websites.
