The Pirates Athletes of the Week for the week ending February 5 have arrived. See who takes home the honors this week at Cinnaminson High School.

Bowling: The boy’s bowling team went 2-0 this week to finish the regular season at 15-2. They had wins over Delran and Holy Cross. The Pirates also competed at the BCSL tourney. The boy’s bowling athlete of the week goes to Sean Harris. Harris led the Pirates in both matches with the high series. The girl’s bowling team went 2-0 this week to finish the year 5-11-1 and competed at the BCSL too. Girl’s bowling also competed at the South Jersey Sectionals Saturday. The girl’s bowling athlete of the week goes to Kate Mattern, who had the high series at sectionals for Cinnaminson.

Boy’s Basketball: The boy’s basketball team went 0-3 this week to fall to 8-13 overall and 3-7 in the Patriot Division. Cinnaminson fell to Willingboro in overtime and Maple Shade at the buzzer. The Pirates also fell to rival Delran. The boy’s basketball athlete of the week goes to Craig Turner. Turner led the Pirates in scoring two of three games with 22, 12 and 18.

Girl’s Basketball: The girl’s basketball team went 2-1 this week to move to 14-6 overall and 4-3 in the Patriot. Wins came against Willingboro and Holy Cross, while the Pirates fell to rival Delran on Friday night. The girl’s basketball athlete of the week goes to Fiona Flynn (17, 9 and 10 points). Flynn led the Pirates in scoring two of three games.

Swimming: The swim team went 1-0 this week with a dominating win over Delran to finish the regular season 7-4. The Pirates also competed at the BCSL Championships. The swimming athlete of the week goes to Lily Black. Black was the lone Pirate swimmer to take home first at the BCSL competition as she won the 50 free in 25.40.

Winter Track: The winter track team competed at another SJTCA meet this week. The Pirates had seven top six finishers and five top three finishers. The winter track athlete of the week goes to Prisca Blamon. Blamon finished second in the shot put with a school record of 36’8″.

Wrestling: The wrestling team went 3-1 this week to finish the regular season at 14-6 overall and 5-0 in the Patriot, winning the division crown outright. The Pirates picked up wins over Delran, Absegami and Shawnee. The lone loss came to Collingswood. The wrestling athlete of the week goes to Ryan Teague. Teague went 4-0 on the week with 15-0 technical falls against Delran and Absegami, a 1-0 decision against Collingswood and a pin against Shawnee. He is now 22-2 on the year and has a 14-bout win streak.

He coached baseball for five years, three at his former high school (Holy Cross in Delran, NJ) and two at prominent Division III program Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and minor in Journalism from Rowan University in 2008. While in school he was the Assistant Sports Director at WGLS for two years and the Sports Director for one year. He also covered the football, baseball, softball and both basketball teams for the school newspaper 'The Whit.' He is the former Sports Editor for the Cinnaminson and Moorestown Patch websites.
