The Pirates Athletes of the Week have arrived for the week ending February 19. See who takes home the honors this week at Cinnaminson High School.
Bowling: The boy’s bowling team competed at the state tournament this week, finishing 10th in the Group 1 tournament with just under 3,000 total pins. The boy’s bowling athlete of the week goes to Sean Harris. Harris had the opportunity to compete in the individual state tournament this week.
Boy’s Basketball: The boy’s basketball team went 1-1 this week and is now 9-15 on the year. The Pirates lost to Burlington Township and took down Palmyra. The boy’s basketball athlete of the week goes to Craig Turner. Turner led the Pirates in scoring both times and is just four three-pointers away from tying the CHS single season record.
Girl’s Basketball: The girl’s basketball team played to a record of 3-0 this week to move to 18-7 on the year. The Pirates took down Freedom champion Westampton Tech, Burlington Township and Highland. The girl’s basketball athlete of the week goes to Fiona Flynn. Flynn led the Pirates in scoring in all three wins with 22, 11 and 12 points, respectively.
Swimming: The swim team’s season came to an end this week with a loss to Moorestown in the Central, B semifinals. The Pirates finish the meet portion of the season with an 8-5 mark The swimming athlete of the week goes to Lily Black, who led the Pirates valiant effort against the Quakers.
Winter Track: The winter track team competed at the Group 2 state championship on Saturday in Toms River. The Pirates had two athletes finish in the top six, which advances them to the Meet of Champions. Those athletes are this week’s winter track athletes of the week. Madison Edwards finished 6th in the 1600 and Mike Ungvarsky finished 5th in the 3200.
Wrestling: The wrestling team competed at the District 26 tournament this week, finishing second as a team with 155 points. The Pirates had seven wrestlers make it to the finals, which means all seven advance to Regions this coming week. The wrestling athletes of the week are Shaun Davilla and Keith Swartley, both of whom won the District 26 title in their respective weight classes. Swartley also tied the CHS career record for wins with 119.
