Pirates Athletes of the Week: December 25


We bring you the Pirates Athletes of the Week for December 25 one day early due to the holiday. See who takes home the honors this week.

Bowling: The boy’s dropped a 3-1 match to Delran this week to fall to 4-1 on the year. The boy’s bowling athlete of the week is Ronnie Runquist. Runquist rolled a high game of 236 for the Pirates in the loss. The girl’s win this week came via forfeit against Delran 4-0. The Pirates are now 2-3 this season.

Boy’s Basketball: The Pirates went 3-0 this week to move to 3-1 on the year. Cinnaminson beat Pennsauken Tech, Burlington City and Northern Burlington (overtime). The boy’s basketball athlete of the week is Craig Turner. Turner had games of 20, 21 and 19 points this week to help the Pirates to the three wins.

Girl’s Basketball: Northern BurlingtonThe girl’s basketball team went 2-0 this week with wins over Burlington City and to move to 3-1. The girl’s basketball athlete of the week is Fiona Flynn. Flynn paced the offense with 27 points across the two wins.

Swimming: The swim team went 0-1 this week to fall to 3-2 on the season with a 102-68 loss to Rancocas Valley. The swimming athlete of the week goes to Jack Conville.

Wrestling: The wrestling team won its first dual match of the season against Moorestown this week. The wrestling athlete of the week is Alex Marter. Marter pinned in his 106-pound bout in 49 seconds, the quickest pin of the night for either team.

Jim is the creator and editor of Cinn City Sports. He also created At the Dish, Life With Tony and Enzo and is the owner of JAVFreelancing. He coached baseball for five years, three at his former high school (Holy Cross in Delran, NJ) and two at prominent Division III program Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. He has worked for the Courier-Post in Cherry Hill, NJ; Metro Networks in Bala Cynwyd, PA; and was the play-by-play announcer for the Camden Riversharks of the Independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball for two seasons (2007-2008) on Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM, the student-run radio station at Rowan University. Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and minor in Journalism from Rowan University in 2008. While in school he was the Assistant Sports Director at WGLS for two years and the Sports Director for one year. He also covered the football, baseball, softball and both basketball teams for the school newspaper 'The Whit.' He is the former Sports Editor for the Cinnaminson and Moorestown Patch websites.
