Gameday Focus: Softball vs Pitman

Game coverage for this beautiful Monday in May features softball vs Pitman at 3:45pm. Let’s take an in-depth look at the game with our Gameday Focus.

When: Monday, May 16 at 3:45pm.

Where: Cinnaminson High School.

Cinnaminson: 8-12

Pitman: 3-14

The Pirates softball team enters today’s makeup game with Pitman at 8-12 overall following an 8-0 win over Glassboro on Thursday that ended a four-game skid.

Cinnaminson was hoping it could schedule a game early this week if a rainout occurred on Friday so that the team could play prior to Thursday night’s game at Delran.

Pitman will travel to Cinnaminson this afternoon for a non-league game that will only count towards regular season records and not towards power points.

The cutoff date for power points was Saturday and the Pirates finished with 286, good for fourth in the South, Group 2 classification.

The Pirates will learn their seed and first-round opponent on Tuesday, but Cinnaminson should be as high as the #4 seed in SJ2.

Cinnaminson has not faced Pitman yet this season, but the two teams did meet in 2015 with the Pirates coming away victorious 8-2 over the Panthers.

Pitman comes into this contest with an overall record of 3-14 and fell to Pennsville their last time out by a score of 10-0. That game was almost a week ago. It was played on Tuesday, May 10.

Pitman has lost eight of its last nine games. The lone win in that stretch came against Salem by a score of 7-4.

The Panthers have been shutout four times this season and have been held to one run five times. Pitman has allowed double digits in runs seven times, including a 21-13 win over Wildwood.

The Panthers have scored double digits in runs just three times this season, two of them came in victories.
