The boy’s volleyball team travels to Donovan Catholic today for a first round playoff match as the #10 seed in the South Tournament.

When: Tuesday, May 24 at 4pm.

Where: Donovan Catholic High School.

#10 Cinnaminson: 17-12

#7 Donovan Catholic: 14-11

The Pirates boy’s volleyball team opens the South Tournament playoffs today at 4pm with a road game at Donovan Catholic, the #7 seed.

The Pirates earned the #10 seed in the 2016 playoffs after missing out on the post-season in 2015.

Cinnaminson has not played since a tri-match with Pennsauken and Moorestown last Wednesday. The Pirates took down Moorestown and fell to Pennsauken in the third leg of the Backyard Brawl.

The Pirates ended the regular season with a 17-12 record and a 7-3 mark in the Olympic-National.

Donovan Catholic comes into the playoffs with a 14-11 record and has not played since last Thursday in a 2-0 loss to Wall.

Donovan Catholic is in the midst of a two-match losing streak. The team opened the 2016 season on a 5-0 run, but proceeded to drop the next three matches to fall to 5-3.

The team had just one other lengthy win streak during the season and it lasted just four matches.

Cinnaminson opened the year at 1-4, but reeled off nine wins in a row to improve to 9-4 before losing again.

The Pirates have faced some very tough competition this year in Sterling, Collingswood, Pennsauken and Pennsauken Tech. All of these matches should prepare Cinnaminson for the tournament.

Donovan Catholic was eliminated by Collingswood in the first round of the South Tournament in 2015 by a 2-0 score.

This is the second straight playoff appearance for Donovan Catholic.

Cinnaminson was last in the playoffs in 2014, falling 2-0 to West Windsor-Plainsboro South in the first round of the Central Tournament.

These two teams have not met in the last seven seasons.
