Boy’s Track and Field Meet of Champions Preview

The boy’s track and field team will send a handful of athletes to the Meet of Champions today at Central Regional. Here is our preview.

When: Wednesday, June 8 at 2:30pm.

Where: Central Regional High School in Bayville.

The end of the track and field season, and the spring sports season at Cinnaminson High School, occurs today with the Meet of Champions at Central Regional High School.

Cinnaminson’s boy’s track and field team will be well represented at the met in three events.

The Pirates will send athletes to the MOC to compete in the 4×800, the pole vault and the 3200.

The 3200 will be the 15th event and the 4×800 will be the 16th event within the running events. The pole vault will be the first event within the field events.

Mike Ungvarsky will be running in two events today, the 3200 and the 4×800 meter relay.

Ungvarsky qualified for the 3200 by winning the Group 2 State Title last weekend with a time of 9:19.70 as the #11 seed. He won by less than two seconds as River Dell’s Will Daly finished second at 9:21.61.

Ungvarsky became the first Pirate to win a state title in the 3200 since Jon Anderson did so back in 2004.

Ungvarsky qualified for the Group 2 State meet by finishing second in the 3200 at the Group 2 Sectional meet the week prior. He ran the 3200 that day with a time of 9:49.78.

The 4×800 meter relay team will race today after qualifying at the Group 2 State meet last weekend. The team finished sixth with a time of 8:02.11.

The team consists of Justin Arnold, Max Adams, Mike Ungvarsky, Tom Long, Sampson Abah, Samir Corbett-Parker, Steve Liu and Tom Ungvarsky.

The 4×800 team finished second at the Group 2 Sectional meet with a time of 8:08.51 to qualify for the Group 2 State meet last weekend.

Christian Neumann will compete in the pole vault today, the first field event of the afternoon, at the Meet of Champions.

Neumann qualified for the MOC by finishing in fourth at 12-06.

Neumann finished first at 11-9 at the Group 2 Sectional meet to qualify for the State Group 2 meet.
