The Alumni Profile for Friday features University of the Sciences baseball player Christian DeLuca, a member of the 2013 baseball state title team. Here is our conversation.

What factors helped you choose the University of the Sciences? The biggest factor that led me to choose USciences was the acceptance into the six year Physical Therapy program and the job opportunities this prestigious program would create for me when I graduate. Along with the education part, my choice was also based on the competition of baseball players. I wanted to face the highest competition that was offered to me in order to better myself as a baseball player.

What interests you about physical therapy? When I was younger I needed some physical therapy due to an injury so that is why I chose physical therapy. It interests me because I’m a fan of learning about the anatomy of the the human body and of course being able to help people is a bonus.

Most memorable moment from CHS athletic career? Hitting a double at Citizens Bank Park after being selected to the Burlington County Carpenter Cup Team my senior year.

Favorite movie? The Natural or Benchwarmers

Favorite song and/or artist? My favorite song of all time is easily “Build Me Up Buttercup” by The Foundations. My favorite artist is David Burd.

Favorite TV show? Psych or Friday Night Tykes.

Favorite post-game meal or snack? Mac and Cheese.

Was it difficult to adjust to the college game? It was more difficult than I thought it would be, but I would say I made the full transition to the college game.

Favorite class at CHS? Forensics with Mrs. Alvarado.

What advice would you give seniors wanting to continue their baseball careers in college? Nothing will be given to you. In order to succeed at the next level you need to be willing to put in the work. Everyone is capable of achieving at the next level, but not everyone is willing.

Are you playing in a summer league? If so, what part of your game do you want to focus on? I am playing for Cherry Hill Legion with a few of the graduating baseball players this year. I’m looking to polish my mechanics and increase my arm strength.

Who has been your biggest support during your athletic career at CHS and the University of the Sciences? My parents, by far.
